Sometimes it can feel like no matter how much we do, there still aren’t enough hours in the day. Things are left undone, pushed for later, and the feeling of overwhelm grows and grows. It’s difficult to focus on how to get ahead when it seems like we are always striving to feel caught up and “on top of things”. Take some time this week to declutter, get organized, focus and start catching up on what’s most important on your ever-growing to-do list.

Organize your calendar

How busy is your calendar looking this week? Take a look and push activities and commitments to the next week if they aren’t necessary or a top priority. Can you re-arrange meetings so you have a day to yourself and catch up on work that needs to be done? Let’s get some blank spaces in your calendar! Try using some digital planners such as Trello.

Clean your inbox

It not just physical clutter than can leave us feeling overwhelmed. Are your emails piling up? That happens to us all the time! Take some time to deep clean your inbox – reply to emails you missed, delete or archive the old ones, and unsubscribe to newsletters that are cluttering up your inbox.

Hone your focus

It’s easy to get carried away with a long to-do list. Everything seems like a ‘top priority’! Instead of aiming to complete everything on that list, focus your efforts on 2 key things. Once those are taken care of, you can then turn your full attention to what’s next.

Scan your body

Check in with yourself and scan your body. Which areas are holding tension? Stretch it out and actually let your body relax after a long day. Try to limit screen time so that your body can settle in and unwind.

Tackle those nagging errands

What’s been sitting on your to do list for the longest time? Can you get help with the things you’re stuck on? Maybe a friend can help make it fun. Find time this weekend to knock off a couple of those things. Your latest Netflix binge will still be there when you’re done.

Self-care Sunday

Feeling all caught up now? Time to treat yourself! Do something special that brings you joy that you normally wouldn’t do for yourself before the weekend ends. This could be getting a foot massage, taking a warm bath, lighting your favourite candles, taking the night off, or grabbing a snack from your favourite cafe.
